# Tank venting arrangement in crude oil carriers

For the newbuilding designers, correct concept from start of design works are necessary to save time and correct output.
Here a standard proposal of tank venting design, established together with my god Mr. Starvros Hatzigrigoris through newbuilding design of Greek tanker, is attached.
Due to a commercial reason on several cases, independent gas freeing post is omitted.
Instead, gas freeing cover is combined with vacuum side of PV valve. Personally I do do’nt like this design.
Standard proposal here include independent gas freeing post.
