Hello all!
Any ideas on how to remove a stuck ballast pump coupling flange - without application of heating because the ballast pump is located inside the pump room of a tanker vessel?

Hello @Satyajit,
I’m not an expert, but I would suggest starting by applying penetrating oil around the flange and coupling area to help loosen them. You might also try using vibrations to break the bond without needing heat.
I’m curious to hear what any member from the QueSeas community thinks about this topic, and let us know if you managed to overcome the issue.
you can try to remove it by 20-ton hydraulic jack
Thank you all for your advice.
Due to lack of space, we have fabricated an extractor as per the attached photo and it worked well. We have removed the coupling successfully using a 10 tone hydraulic jack. The bolts are tightened on the coupling flange and the jack inside the extractor is pushing upwards. The bolts were keep braking due to extreme tension, so we have decided to weld plates to improve the strength.
