I would like to recommend two highly regarded books in the field of technology that I believe will greatly benefit our industry: “The Mythical Man-Month” by Fred Brooks (ex -IBM) and “Hacker’s and Painters” by Paul Graham (Y combinator).
“The Mythical Man-Month” provides a comprehensive examination of the challenges associated with managing software projects and the complexities of software engineering. On the other hand, “Hacker’s and Painters” offers a unique perspective on the intersection of technology, art, and creativity.
I believe that these books contain valuable insights that can be applied to the maritime sector, not only in engineering but in logistics, operations and chartering as well, particularly in terms of project management and the complexities of complex systems.
