There are rumors of a new building in the Scandinavian area; the project mainly aims to have full electric propulsion on 60,000 DWT vessels. It is a very crucial mile stone for the marine industry, I would have great appreciation if anyone updates the condition.
I have not heard any rumours of this kind. Considering the size (typically large Supramaxes or small Ultramaxes) with 7,000 to 8,000 kW main engines, it is very unlikely that such vessels will be fully electric any time soon.
Thanks for sharing, ege. It looks like that the deadweight of these bulkers in the Offshore Energy article is misquoted. It should read 6,300 instead of 63,000.
The CIP6300 design has diesel-electric propulsion rather than full electric .
