While the international shipping industry has each own carbon budget (as do all other industries), some countries such as the UK have added international shipping in their own country-wide carbon budget too. This shows how closely monitored the shipping industry is in general, noting that although shipping transports around 90% of the global trade it accounts for only 3% of the global greenhouse emissions… but still it is highly monitored…
