In October 2021, the Maersk McKinney Moller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping published a proposed transition strategy for achieving zero carbon shipping by 2050.

I can observe from the following chart (included in the document) that for most alternative fuels, the regulatory framework supporting onboard regulatory aspects and market mechanisms supporting adoption is not really there. That’s one of the major challenge to face on the decarbonization journey.
