Quiz: Ship Resistance and Propulsion

Consider a large oil tanker sailing in good weather, in laden condition (close to the design draft), with the M/E at 60 RPM, and the same oil tanker sailing in good weather, in ballast draft with the M/E at 60 RPM.
In which condition (laden or ballast?) would you expect the M/E to produce greater horse power output at the same M/E RPM?

RPM-power relation is given by Makers Engine load diagram. Affected by environmental or hull roughness criteria.
At same RPM, at same conditions, torque will be the same (so power will be the same) but speed will be less for the laden condition.
