Good evening,
We hear that it is highly probable to damage the stern tube bearing when the vessel is sailing with the propeller not fully immersed in the water.
Could somebody elaborate further on this?

Interesting input from @Adrien56 and DNV !
It is true that the majority of the stern tube bearing damages occur either when entering/leaving a shipyard in cases where the M/E is running with the propeller not fully immersed due to draft restrictions or when there is stern slamming and propeller racing in rough weather conditions.
