Tribology: stribeck curve

One of the most important concepts in tribology is the Stribeck curve.
The Stribeck curve is a graphical representation of the relationship between friction and lubrication in mechanical systems. It shows how the coefficient of friction changes as the lubrication regime changes from boundary lubrication to mixed lubrication to full-film lubrication. The oil film thickness depends on the sliding surface velocity, the viscosity of the lubricant and the load per projected area.
